Nanne’s son Arnout who has committed a sex offense returns home to the farm after serving his sentence. Will Nanne be able to rediscover compassion for his son while being consumed by a poisonous mix of grief, hate, and self-blame amidst a harsh and conservative Frisian rural community?
Rutger Veenstra: "The motivation for making the short film ‘Pig” is the harsh cancel culture wich I’ve seen up close and wich seems to have become common in today’s world. People who did wrong are being outcasted, without nuance, dialogue and especially without being given a second chance. The story takes place in the conservative Frisian rural community wich I know by heart since I was born and raised in it. This intimate Frisian film portrays the danger of moral decay that occurs when people become each other’s judge, jury and executioner."

Na een reeks documentaires over Friese familiebedrijven is Baarch zijn eerste lange speelfilm, over een vader en zijn uit detentie terugkerende zoon. De film ging in premiere op het Noordelijk Film Festival.
